Kelly Valentine Hendry, the casting director of “Bridgerton,” shared that she receives numerous “unsolicited” emails containing fan auditions for the popular Netflix series. In a recent episode of the “Should I Delete That?” podcast, Hendry mentioned that she constantly has to sift through and delete messages in her inbox, with about “90 percent” of them being spam from fans.
Hendry expressed that she receives unbelievable and unsolicited videos daily, with content that is quite suggestive but not explicit. She noted that while these messages do not contain nude photos, they are close to it, which she finds a bit disheartening.
Fans are particularly interested in auditioning for the role of Sophie Beckett, the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton, from Julia Quinn’s books that inspired the Netflix series. However, the “Bridgerton” team has not confirmed which love story will be the focus of season four.
During the podcast, Hendry recalled receiving an audition tape featuring a woman in a period costume so elaborate that it required heavy-duty scaffolding for display.
“Bridgerton,” known for its steamy scenes, recently premiered its third season on Netflix, focusing on the friends-to-lovers dynamic between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.
Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, revealed in an interview with “Stylist” that she specifically requested to be naked on screen in season three as a response to critics of her body and appearance. She felt empowered by the decision and saw it as a way to defy negative conversations about her body image.
The first three seasons of “Bridgerton” are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
