Stephanie March’s character Alexandra “Alex” Cabot on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” was well-loved by fans during her time on the show. She had a main role in seasons two through five and season 11, with recurring appearances in seasons six, 10, 13, and 19. In the season 11 finale, she decides to leave her job in New York City to help women and girls who are victims of sexual exploitation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
March was inspired by her character’s storyline to get involved with the Panzi Foundation, an organization that supports survivors of sexual violence in the DRC. She felt passionate about advocating for women and girls who have experienced sexual violence and the impact it has on their lives.
Although March no longer appears on “SVU,” the show made history earlier this year by becoming the longest-running live-action series on television with its 25th season premiere in January.
