MANILA, Philippines – Have you ever wondered what you would do if you had just 30 seconds with your favorite idol? For many fans of the all-Filipino global pop group HORI7ON, this dream became a reality during a series of fan-signing events held in the Philippines.
The journey of HORI7ON began after they emerged as the winners of the reality talent show “Dream Maker.” The group, consisting of Vinci Malizon, Kim Ng, Kyler Chua, Reyster Yton, Winston Pineda, Jeromy Batac, and Marcus Cabais, underwent intense training under Filipino and Korean mentors before making their debut in South Korea. As the first all-Filipino global pop group to do so, they have been working hard to showcase Filipino talent on the international stage.
I had the privilege of meeting the members of HORI7ON during their fan-signing events, where fans, known as ANCHORs, had the opportunity to interact with the group on a personal level. The fandom of HORI7ON is diverse, ranging from kids to older generations, all united by their love for the group’s music. Songs like “LUCKY,” “SIX7EEN,” and “Salamat” have become anthems for fans, inspiring them in various aspects of their lives.
One of the remarkable achievements of HORI7ON was staging a successful concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum just 50 days after their debut. The group has also garnered several awards, including the Top Global Artist of the Year at the 8th PPOP Awards and the Rising Star Award at the 11th Korean Wave Awards, solidifying their position in the music industry.
Beyond their music and accolades, the members of HORI7ON serve as inspirations for fans of all ages. From Gen Zs to millennials, the group’s journey resonates with fans who see them as role models for pursuing their dreams. As a millennial myself, I found motivation in their story, reminding me that it’s never too late to chase after my own aspirations.
In an effort to involve more fans in showing their support for HORI7ON, I initiated a project where ANCHORs could write personal messages for the members. The response was overwhelming, with fans expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to connect with their idols in a meaningful way.
During the final fan-signing event, I presented the members of HORI7ON with the message boards filled with heartfelt messages from their fans. The genuine reactions of the group reflected the impact of this gesture, highlighting the strong bond between HORI7ON and their ANCHORs. It was a reminder that idols are not just distant figures but real people who appreciate the love and support of their fans.
As HORI7ON celebrates their first debut anniversary, I am excited for what the future holds for the group. With a new album on the horizon and upcoming performances lined up, including the Watsons Playlist: The P-Pop Power Concert, fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the next chapter of the group’s journey.
Meeting HORI7ON has been a transformative experience, showcasing the power of music to unite people from different backgrounds. As an ANCHOR and a member of Rappler Plus, I am proud to be part of a community that supports and uplifts Filipino talent on the global stage. Happy debut anniversary, HORI7ON! Here’s to many more years of success and growth. – Rappler.com
