Taraji P. Henson will be hosting the BET Awards once again. The event is set to air live on June 30 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
In a statement, Henson expressed her excitement about hosting the BET Awards for the third time and looks forward to celebrating her peers and the impact of their culture on entertainment.
Usher is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the event, with performances by Victoria Monét, Sexyy Red, Muni Long, Latto, GloRilla, and Shaboozey.
Drake leads the nominations with seven nods, including album of the year for “For All the Dogs (Scary Hours Edition)” and best male R&B/pop artist. He is also nominated for video of the year for “Rich Baby Daddy” and his collaboration with J. Cole on “First Person Shooter.”
Drake and Kendrick Lamar will go head-to-head in two categories: best male hip-hop artist and best collaboration. Nicki Minaj follows Drake with six nominations, including video of the year for “Barbie World” and album of the year for “Pink Friday 2.”
Other nominees for video of the year include Lil Durk and J. Cole, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, Victoria Monét, Usher, Summer Walker, 21 Savage, and Doja Cat. For album of the year, nominees include Victoria Monét, Chris Brown, Usher, Killer Mike, 21 Savage, and Gunna.
SZA, J. Cole, Sexyy Red, and Victoria Monét each earned five nominations, while Beyoncé, Usher, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, 21 Savage, and Tyla received four nominations.
The BET Awards will be broadcast live on BET at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
