The SexBomb Girls, one of the most popular all-female dance groups in the Philippines, made waves in the late 1990s to 2010s with their catchy dance tunes and stunning performances. But behind the glamour and success lay a different story – one of sacrifice and hardship.
Strict Rules and Regulations
Recently, five of the original members of SexBomb revealed in an interview with broadcast journalist Jessica Soho that they were not allowed to get into relationships during the height of their careers. Jopay Paguia-Zamora, Che-Che Tolentino, Sandy Tolentino, Monic Icban-Diamante, and Mia Pangyarihan all shared their experiences, highlighting the strict rules and regulations imposed upon them by their managers.
According to the members, they were banned from getting married or dating while they were active on TV. Monic Icban-Diamante shared that she was already in a relationship with her boyfriend-turned-husband when she had to sign her contract as a member.
Tapos may penalty, mga one million or half a million,” she began.

Her husband was also a talent of the group’s former manager, Joy Cancio. When their contract required them to be single, they were faced with a penalty of approximately one million pesos if they broke the rule. To avoid this, they quickly got married in Pampanga, so when Monic signed her contract, her manager could not do anything about it.
– Mia Pangyarihan
Aside from this, Joy Cancio installed tracking devices on the members’ cellphones to monitor their whereabouts. Mia Pangyarihan shared that they were once tracked down and threatened by their manager when they did not reply to her text messages. The members also noted that they were not allowed to attend parties or events without the approval of their managers.

Grateful for Opportunities
Despite these challenges, the members expressed their gratitude for the opportunities they received as part of the group. They acknowledged that being a SexBomb Girl was not easy, and it required strength and determination to survive in the group.
– Jopay Paguia
